The humanitarian situation in the Metropolitan Zone of Port-au-Prince (MZPAP) continues to be significantly impacted by gang violence, causing a new wave of mass displacement. As of 27 May 2026, 17,496 people (4,266 households) have been forced to flee their homes due to the increased clashes by armed gangs in the commune of Cité Soleil, which escalated on 10 May 2026. Despite the security constraints and limited humanitarian access, UNFPA and other humanitarian actors are mobilized to respond to the current humanitarian needs for affected people. UNFPA and implementing partners such as World Relief International (WR) and Centre pour le Développement de la Santé (CDS) are ensuring access to critical services through the deployment of integrated sexual and reproductive health (SRH) and gender-based violence (GBV) mobile clinics, dignity kit distribution, coordination of GBV prevention and response services, and remote support for survivors of violence via a hotline.
