Advocacy for a Climate-Smart Recovery in Hai: Webinar Series on Environmental Economics

Haiti faces severe and escalating climate risks that threaten its economic stability, food security, and progress toward sustainable development, with frequent disasters causing chronic losses and undermining key sectors like agriculture and fisheries. The country’s recovery strategy emphasizes integrating green and blue economy solutions, such as climate-smart agriculture, mangrove restoration, renewable energy, and sustainable fisheries, while leveraging international partnerships and climate finance. However, Haiti’s efforts are constrained by limited institutional capacity, low domestic revenue, and challenges in accessing and effectively utilizing climate funds. The document advocates for translating national commitments into operational tools, strengthening regional collaboration, and reforming multilateral finance mechanisms to build resilience and ensure a climate-smart, inclusive recovery for Haiti.
